Marriage at Chittlehampton, 1823, page 39, entry 116 Thomas Blackmore of this parish and Elizabeth Rice of this parish were married in this church by Banns this Fourth day of May in the Year one thousand eight hundred and twenty three by me Robert Chichester Vicar. This marriage was solemnized between us - Thomas Blackmore and the mark X of Elizabeth Rice In the presence of - Wm Teage, William Camp - Messrs Teage and Camp were witnesses of many marriages
There is only one child shown in the Chittlehampton baptism register 20 Jul 1823 William son of Thomas & Elizabeth BLACKMORE, labourer, Chittlehamholt . Chittlehamholt, although now a separate parish, was part of Chittlehampton until the 1850s. It is about four miles from the village of Chittlehampton, and bordering on the parish of Burrington. - The two pieces of information taken together appear to be proof that this is the correct family

Thomas and Elizabeth are buried in the small cemetery at the old Brethren Chapel in Burrington. The inscription is In Happy Remembrance of Thomas Blackmore who departed this life March 9th 1872 aged 71 years also of Elizabeth wife of the above who died January 5th 1872 aged 70 years

TO BE LET by Tender, for a Term of 7 or 14 Years, from Lady-day, 1849, A desirable Farm called Pool Batten, and Part of Barn Pool, in the Parish of Burrington (adjoining the new road leading to Barnstaple, and distant therefrom about 12 miles); comprising a farm house and convenient outbuildings, a labourer's cottage and garden, and about 38 acresof superior arable, meadow, orchard, and pasture land. The taker will be required to discharge the outgoings, and to do the usual tenant's repairs. For viewing the above, apply to Mr Thomas Blackmore, the present tenant; and for further particulars, to Messrs Croote and Son, Lapford, near Crediton, to whom tenders may be delivered on or before Thursday the 5th day of October next. Dated 15th September 1848.
