  General Notes:

Initial reason for this entry is that son James Blackmore and his family lived at Kingsland Cottage / Little Kingsland at dates up to 1861. In 1871, one of the houses is occupied by Thomas & Elizabeth Blackmore - Thomas is the son of George Blackmore. Both James and George "appear" in Burrington and were close in age. Hence the assumption was made that they are brothers.

From inspection of the Ashreigney Registers, both George (1754) and James (1759) were the sons of John and Christian Blackmore. Ashreigney is only about 2-3 miles from Burrington - an adjacent parish.

The only marriage I could find was in Northam in 1746 to Christian Neal. There was also a baptism of a John, son of John and Christian, in Northam the same year. No other Blackmore children baptised there, but later ones were baptised at Ashreigney. It has to be assumed, at present, that the entries all relate to the same John and Christian. Especially now since the marriage register states that John was "of Ringsash"(Ashreigney)

There is a burial at Ashreigney, according to a transcript on the Genuki web site(by Greg Sheere)
John Blackmore 23 Jul 1809. John would be 86 years old
Is this likely to be correct when it appears that his wife Christian was buried at Northam?
- also possible it is his son or grandson

John married Christian NEAL, daughter of William NEAL and Unknown, on 18 Sep 1746 in Northam, Devon, England.¹ (Christian NEAL was born circa 1725, baptised on 6 Aug 1725 in Alwington, Bideford, Devon, England, died in Dec 1779 and was buried on 28 Dec 1779 in Northam, Devon, England.)
