In finding the children of Richard and Mary it is necessary to be careful as there was a marriage in Yarnscombe in 1818 of Richard Blackmore to Mary Thorne. This is likely to be the first marriage of Richard and that after Mary (nee Thorne) died in 1827, aged 29 he returned to Burrington and married Mary Evans. This might well explain the children born before 1828
