bullet  General Notes:

After fruitless searches for the birth of Ann Arnold, who married William Blackmore in 1819, the problem was solved when I got sight of a Prayer Book passed down through the Blackmore family - via son William, his son William Henry and so on to the Skyrme family. Unfortunately one line had been obliterated by information written by William Blackmore (b 1826).

This Common Prayer book was the property of John Arnold at the ??? date of 1818.
He was my Mother's first husband.
He died that same year, signed by William Blackmore son of William Blackmore, born April 12 1826.
So it has been in our family since that time.

This book was John Arnolds of Burrington the year 1818

(the date May 6th 1862 referred to above is interesting as Ann died on 11th May. The reference to July 30th 1841 is still unclear)

On page 11, entry 33.
John Arnold of this parish and Ann Baker of this parish were married in this church by banns with consent of parents this twenty fifth day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighteen by me J Buckingham vicar.
This marriage was solemnized between us John Arnold, Ann Baker (both signed)
In the presence of William Thorne and John Kelly (both signed - John Kelly signed many entries in Burrington)

William Blackmore of this parish and Ann Arnold of this parish were married in this church by Banns with consent of parents this thirtieth day of Dec'r in the year one thousand eight hundred and nineteen by me J Buckingham vicar. Both signed their own names. Witnesses were James Blackmore (father or brother) and John Kelly (he signed the other two entries on the same page).
- note that there is no reference to bachelor/spinster/widow, even though Ann was a widow

- There is a 70 year old Jane Cann living at the Alms Houses in 1861.

Fremington registers state
Burial on 16 May 1862. Ann Blackmore of Fremington Alms Houses, aged 76

Buried with husband in Fremington Churchyard - and next grave contains daughter in law, Ann Backmore (nee Muxworthy). Parish Register says she was living at Fremington Almshouses.

The headstone says

Who departed this life December the 22nd 1849 Aged 60 Years
Also to the Memory of
ANN BLACKMORE (wife of the above)
