bullet  General Notes:

Parents of Ann - discovered through the prayer book of her first husband - see transcription in Ann Baker's entry.

The Kings Nympton registers were searched (1781-1793) and the only relevant entries were
- baptism of daughter Ann
- baptism of son John
- burial of son John

Also checked earlier dates at Kings Nympton for a marriage of John & Joan. However there are no marriages listed for 1778-1780 (the vicar died in 1777)

Marriage at Meshaw, 1785
John Baker of the parish of Kings Nympton and Joan Cock of this parish
were married in this church by Banns this 26th day of December 1785
signed John Baker and Joan Cock
witnesses were John Cock and William Boundy
on the same day there was the marriage of
John Lake of the Parish of Chittlehampton and Grace Cock of this parish
both signed and the witnesses were the same as for Joan
- presume this was a double wedding of sisters
- William Boundy signed other entries

Likely Baptism at Kingsnympton, 1755
John son of Richard & Grace Baker June 29th

Likely burial - wife was buried in Chittlehampton
Burial at Chittlehampton, 1838, page 96, entry 765
John Baker, Whey, April 1, 81
