Different names were quoted for Elizabeth's father on each marriage

Maybe the "Thomas William" was correct, since have now found parents and siblings on 1841 census and the father is William. They are living in the same street as Humphrey Potter. Also one child was baptised Thomas William Abell.

What happened to Humphrey Potter - he died 3 weeks before Elizabeth's 4th marriage. So they had just separated and built new families

Elizabeth Potter, 40, Widow, - , 16 Bromshead Street. Father Thomas Abell (deceased), Clerk
both signed their names. Witnesses were Martha Goodhew and Mary Ann Craddock
- address on church copy appears to be Bromehead Street.

A further mystery is that the Potter's had an address of 30 Gowers Walk, but later children of Humphrey quoted an address of 30 Wageners Buildings (which was in Gowers Walk).

1861 RG9/272 There are missing pages towards the end, and these cover Wageners Building!
Not found on the index on findmypast.com either (which ends at the same point). PRO has confirmed that the last page available is F134 P30 (which has part of the Costin Family). The previous page is annotated "134 END". The description of ED7 gives counts for page numbers up to 36.
Also looked on Ancestry.com for both Potter and Marshall - not found
The last entry available contains the Costin family i.e. Humphrey Potter's new family

1871 Census entry - this means that it was Elizabeth who married again to William Marshall - at least one of the children (Fanny) should be called Potter
