Informant of both parents' deaths. Living at Churchtown, South Petherwin (1925 and 1933)

When I was at South Petherwin Methodist Church, I spoke with an elderly gentleman who knew Sampson Wilton and he referred to his daughter, Mrs Shepheard, and two sons. One was also Sampson and the other possibly Albert.
See the entries for these children to show that this is correct.

SOUTH PETHERWIN'S OLDEST RESIDENT - FUNERAL OF MRS. E. WILTON
Mrs. Elizabeth Wilton whose death occurred at Mount Gould Hospital, Plymouth, on Monday week at the age of 89 was the widow of Mr. Sampson Wilton, a retired Chief Engine Room Artificer in the Royal Navy who died in October 1959. She was the eldest and also a very popular parishioner.
Mrs. Wilton came to South Petherwin nearly 70 years ago from South Molton and was employed at the Vicarage as a cook by the late Rev. P. T. Pulman who was Vicar at that time. She had always taken a great deal of interest in all church and parish affairs.
Her husband was Chairman of the Parish Council and churchwarden for many years. She was a member of the Mother's Union, Women's Institute and served for a long period on the Parochial Church Council.
Family mourners included Mrs. Shepheard, daughter, Mr. & Mrs. A. Wilton, Mr. & Mrs. S. Wilton sons and wives. Mr. D. J. Wilton grandson. No wreaths, money to Cancer Research instead.
- "Monday week" was actually 20th September 1965 - according to MI
- D.J Wilton was David, son of her son Sampson
