A transcribed version of Winnifred's obituary from the Olds, Alberta newspaper:
"Last Rites Held for Mrs. Freeman
Funeral services for the late Winnifred Helen Freeman, beloved wife of Carl
Freeman of Olds were held on Wednesday, September 8th, from the Orme Funeral
Chapel with Rev. W. H. Moss in charge. Pallbearers were Tom Somers, Joe
Cowie, Vic Larson, H. Willy, John Tofin and Ian Haynes and internment took
place in Queensland Cemetery in Calgary. Mrs. Freeman passed away at the
Olds Municipal hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bournemouth, England
in 1889, Winnifred Gowd, there grew up a young lady later working in a large
department store. In 1916 she met and married Carl Freeman at Folkstone and
in 1919 came to Canada with her husband. For a time they resided at Halifax
and later lived at Waldeck, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin, Alder Flats,
Lethbridge and Calgary. In 1946, Mr. Freeman came to Olds and purchased the
blacksmith business of Tom Elliott. Since that time Mr. and Mrs. Freeman
have made their home here and have a wide circle of friends in the
community. During her lifetime Mrs. Freeman was affiliated with the Church
of England. Besides her husband there are surviving three sons, Gilbert of
Calgary, LeRoy of Calgary, Brant of Montreal and one daughter, Mrs. Joan
Somers of Olds."

- errors in this piece; she is buried in Union Cemetery in
Calgary, not Queens Park and the maiden name was Cowd, not
Gowd.

Family info was that she died on 15th September, but other documents state this to be 5th.
e.g. Estate papers "Whereas Winnifred Helen Freeman, married woman, died intestate on the 5th day of September A. D., 1948, and left surviving as her only ....."
