Note - Port Phillip is the harbour upon which Melbourne is built.
The detail entry states : John & Alice BLACKMORE arrived at Port Phillip on 11 Sept, 1849, aboard the "Courier". Records showed John to be a labourer ("wife" for Alice). Both were from Devonshire and of the Anglican faith. John could read & write but Alice could only read.
