From "The Ancestry of John Horsfall Lindley"

His Will in which he describes himself as a yeoman is dated 23rd November 1749 and after the usual preliminaries bequeaths £50 a piece to his daughters Ann Booth and Mary Haigh. He bequeaths Benjamin the sum of £5. Two other sons, John and Samuel each get £10.

"unto William my Son, my farm which I hold under lease" and £20.

'To Jonathan, my son, I give five shillings he being portioned before".

"Also I give unto Joseph my son, five shillings and I give and devise unto Hannah now wife of Joseph Goddard, my son, the yearly sum of £3 --- during her natural life. And if my son Joseph happen to survive her then / give unto him the said yearly sum of £3 during his natural life”

"Also / give unto Mary my beloved wife the yearly sum of £5 - - - - - - Also the Choice of the Kitchen or of my other three houses now in the possession of - - - - - - for an Habitation for her during her natural life and do give her all my goods and furniture in the new Chamber. "

"Also I give and bequeath unto John Goddard the son of Joseph Goddard my grandson, the yearly sum of £5 till he shall attain to 15 years of age and then the said yearly payment to cease"

The residue of his personal estate and the rents from his real estate

"I give - - - - - till John Goddard my grandson shall attain the age of twenty and four years unto Benjamin. William, John and Samuel my four sons to be equally to be divided amongst them"

"All my real estate - - - - - - / give and devise unto John Goddard my grandson when he shall attain the age of twenty and four years - - - - -chargeable with the sum of £200 to be divided amongst my four sons Benjamin, William, John and Samuel and with the sum of £25 unto his brother Wi//iam - - - - "

"And lastly if any of my sons be refractory and not content with their bequests then I will that he or they shall be entitled to no share in the Annuities nor any further than their first legacies -­
