You are in luck, as when researching my Silk in Glos., I investigated other
Silk living there.

Mary Ann was the daughter of Jacob and his first wife Martha.

Last Will and Testament of me Jacob Silk of Cheltenham in the county of
Gloucester retired grocer.

Edwin Thomas Silk, son. all executors to be guardians of my infant children
during their respective minorities.
Wife, Mary Ann Silk, all jewellery etc., and also a legacy of £100 to be
paid as soon as possible after my decease. I divide the dwelling house and
premises which I have recently purchased No. 4 Clarence Square, Cheltenham,
to my executors upon trust to permit my said wife to occupy or to receive
the rents and profits of said house during her life as long as shall be my
widow. At her death or second marriage, or during her widowhood, with her
consent, I declare same premises to be sold. He sometime ago, gave over to
his said son his business.
Daughters: Elizabeth Hannah Lee; Mary Ann Hawley.

Cheltenham solicitors were witnesses to the Will, which was made 20th March
1896.

Jacob Silk retired grocer died 18 Sept. 1896. Probate Gloucester to Edwin
Thomas Silk, grocer, James Page, retired butcher, and Henry Wilkins, retired
chemist.
Effects: £7913. 12s.4d. (From Will Index, which when I looked at it, was at
Somerset House, London).

the piano which I give to Kate Marion. I bequeath to my sister Amy Bish ten
pounds.

Edwin Thomas Silk was the son of Jacob and Martha.
He made a Will 21st July 1897.
His children were, Edwin Charles Silk, Lewis Gardner Silk, Harry Vincent
Silk,
Alfred Ernest Silk ( Alfred works for Mr. Gardner).
His shops were at 146, 430 and 431 High Street, Cheltenham.
He also had two marriages.

Edwin Thomas Silk of High Street, Cheltenham, died 23 April 1898.
Probate Gloucester to Alice Amelia Joynes Silk, Widow, Edwin Charles Silk,
grocer, and Alfred Ernest Silk, brewer and corn dealer.
Effects: £13892.19s.8d. Resworn Feb. 1899: £14042.19s. 8d.

I will send details from the 1851 census for Jacob and Martha and their
children in my next e-mail.

Although these Silk have nothing to do my Silk who were farm labourers, I am
pleased to pass on these details to you. It makes me feel I didn't waste
my time all those years ago when I gathered the info.
