General Notes:
Obituary sent to me - undated etc AN ADVENTUROUS CAREER - DEATH OF MR THOMAS WRIGHT - Business circles in Bexhill especially heard with regret of the death of Mr Thomas Wright of 9 Plemont Gardens. Since giving up his well-known jewellers business at 19 Devonshire Road Mr Wright's health had been failing. He was 66 years of age. A native of the city of Lincoln; Mr Wright had an adventurous and interesting career. He went to sea at an early age. He spent a large part of his life gold-mining in NZ and Australia, and also lived in Tasmania. He carried on the Devonshire Road business for 18 years, but was in the colonies during a considerable part of that time. At one point he was in Queensland but found that climate too hot. He also visited South Africa. Nearer home, Mr Wright knew the coast of Ireland intimately, and he once made a trip to Italy. He had many interesting experiences and possessed a straightforward and somewhat bluff personality which was characteristic of his seafaring and Colonial experiences. He was fond of fresh-water angling. Mr Wright leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter. One son is in New Zealand.
