Nicholas Russell Thorne, Male, 21 years, a Foreign Exchange Clerk of 34 Courtlands Avenue Hampton Middlesex. Certificate received from Coroner for West London following inquest held 27 Mar 1969 and registered the same day.
Nick was the cousin that I knew best. We used to go off cycling to London or buying a Green Rover bus ticket and travelling around London. He was quite mischievous, in a way I wish I could have been. But we enjoyed our days out visiting bus garages as children. We got into a few scrapes together, but nothng serious - falling off my bike after Nick tried to ride without holding the handle bars; leaving our bikes unattended in East London without locking them up and they were still there when we got back; finding that we had three hours to wait for a bus in Kent when we were due home in two hours.
Nick was a great pal and I was absolutely shocked when his Uncle Cyril came round to tell us he had died.
Another reason for enjoying his company was that I really fancied his sister!
