Agnes NOBLE
(1886-1974) |
Agnes NOBLE 1
General Notes: Had her first bicycle confiscated by her father after he saw her freewheeling down Idle High Street, one Sunday morning, with both her feet on the handlebars. She became one of Bradford's earliest shorthand secretaries at a time when males dominated that occupation and she continued to use shorthand for taking telephone messages throughout her long life. Had to be watched closely when it came to spending for she could not always resist a "bargain" and would by useless items given half a chance. Had little sentiment and would throw things away if she could see no use or value in things (this included the Wright family bible!!). Very active all her life she actually died whilst sweeping up leaves outside the house in York Road, Nunthorpe.
