Hi Jack
Just thought I'd pass on some more info I've found out baout my part of the Hooper Family.
firstly Lily hooper (daughter of Frederick and Maria) born 1881 Topsham,Married Henry James Dart (Born 1880 Kenn,devon-son of William and Mary a Dart (Budd).) Marrriage took place St thomas 1907-My mum remembers a daugter called (She says Edna) but I haven't found a birth yet.
James Hooper (son of Frederick and Maria) born 1874 topsham,Married Annie Charlotte Taylor (known as Nancy-born Woodbury 1876) in 1896.
In 1901 Annie is living at higher Passage lane topsham (now follet road) with daughter Beatrice age 4 and Son reginald age 1) James/Jim was at plymouth Naval base.
The rest of her family, parents (Alfred and Charlotte selina (Nee Hooper-confusing!!)-are at Monmouth street/hill).
I also know that Annie and Jim had sons called Frederick and Ernest but again don't know dates but mum siad that Fredercik was the youngest.
She knew reginald.
The family went to New Zeland after about 1906. Jim was a Coastguard. Sometime later most of the family returned. Jim lived in Ashford road Topsham,no. 22 when he died .
Reginlad and Beatrice stayed in New Zeland-Haven't found her marriage yet as there don't seem to be many records available.
Reginlad stayed there but came back and visited in the 40's after the war-Mum has a photo-He returned sometime after 1950 to New Zeland-where he died. he was a Taxi-Driver in Timaru and had a Maori girlfriend which he never married-It didn't go down to well in those days apparently.
I am extremely lucky that the museum found his obituary for me-which I'll send as an attatchment in case you're interested!
Frank Donald Hooper (Son of fred and Maria) married Phyliss a Medd in 1928St Thomas. She died in about 1955 and he married again in 1958 to Kathleen Wakefield (in Malvern)-no children with either marriage.
Hope this is helpful and I'll send more as I get it.
Have been updating my tree with all your hoopers-printed out a 'descendants of William Hooper from 1725 down-and ran out the ink cartridge!!!-oops!)
Hope you're well-Kind regards,Vickie
Also tried to locate Maria Hoopers grave-but there is apparently no memorial stone-and never was.-or for Frederick.
Have lots more on trout as well-will send when I get time-They went to Canada!
