  General Notes:

Great confusion as to who Elizabeth Carter married.
I have two sources who state she married Simon Best in 1862 - and there is indeed an Elizabeth Best with Simon in the 1871-1891 censuses. The details from each source are identical - just the name of the husband and the year. I suspect that both sources will be tracked back to being the same.
But a family document (will of Elizabeth's father Joel Carter) refers to his daughter as Elizabeth wife of Michael Daley. There is an Elizabeth Daley in 1891, but a widow. Not found her in 1881. No marriages have been found that could match up with Simon Best or Michael Daley. However, it is possible that Elizabeth married more than once and Michael Daley was not her first husband. It does appear that the Simon and Elizabeth Best may be a red herring and only selected because it was an Elizabeth from the right place and roughly correct age. No idea where 1862 came from - there is no marriage of a Simon Best in 1862 or March 1863 (using findmypast.com).
With finding Michael Daley and Elizabeth on the 1861 census, along with Elizabeth's sister Emily, this appears to be the final confirmation
