Marriage Notes:
Dear Jack, Yesterday went very well and my father is on cloud nine at the moment. We were speaking to May Gibbins son Reg Bond (his father was Charles Bond). He has Mary's and Adolphus's wedding certificate. Guess when they got married!!!!!!! 30th August 1939. He was 65, she was 70 and the got married in Birmingham Registry Office, Witnesses were Thomas Egan and W.A. Crutchley. Registrar was W. G. Hanson. Mary's father was George Whitworth (deceased !!) who was a boot finisher. Reg confirmed that Henry Roberts would not give Mary a divorce so she had to wait till he was dead before they could get married. We took our tape recorder and camcorder with us so when we have unravelled other info they gave us I will mail you some more info. There is a Charlie Mack (my father always though the Mac was a Mac something, but his name was Mack) there was a Freddie Payne or Paine (nicknamed Cocky Payne) but need to watch the tape first. Hope this helps Regards Pat & Trevor
