General Notes: Thomas William Tiffin Blythe, b. 3 Feb 1895 in Lambfield, Castle Sowerby, Cumberland, d. 14 Jun 1959 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, England, buried in Fallings Heath Cemetery, Wednesbury. Occupation: Farmer and then Council Foreman. His mother was Sarah Ann Tiffin who was resident at Lambfield, Castle Sowerby at the time of his birth. Sarah married Thomas Horsley in 1901 and had a further five children (half siblings to Thomas). On Thomas' marriage certificate he gives his father's name as Thomas Blythe (deceased) of Rye Hill. The 1881 census shows the family of a William Blythe living with a Sarah Tiffin and Sarah Ann (her daughter aged 5) at Greens. Could Thomas Blythe have been William's son? He married Martha Jane Golden, married 23 Apr 1918 in Raughton Head Church, Cumberland, b. 11 Aug 1891 in Sowerby Row, Castle Sowerby, Cumberland, (daughter of John Golden and Martha Mason) d. 29 Mar 1984 in Tipton, West Midlands, England, buried in Fallings Heath, Wednesbury, England. Martha: A dressmaker by trade Martha also ran a small cafe for two or three years at the White Horse Bus Centre in Wednesbury. It provided her with a little pocket money. Spent her last days at Silver Tree Nursing Home. Thomas married Martha Jane GOLDEN on 23 Apr 1918 in Raughton Head, Cumberland, England. (Martha Jane GOLDEN was born on 11 Aug 1891 in Castle Sowerby, Cumberland, England, died on 29 Mar 1984 in Tipton, Staffordshire, England and was buried in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, England.) |
