From "The Ancestry of John Horsfall Lindley" and Lindley Family History

At William's second marriage (in Kirkburton Parish Church), the parish registers have William and Rachel described as bachelor and spinster. Actually both were widowed. William was described as Clothier - actually Delver. This was probably a confusion with the occupation of Rachel's father who actually was a clothier. The father's were named as John Turner and Matthew Bradley (not Jonathan as previously thought, but misread).

However, the GRO certificate actually states
William Turner, Full age, Widower, Clothier, res=Under Bank in Wooldale, father=John Turner, Clothier
Rachel Bray, Full age, Widow, , res=Under Bank in Wooldale, father=Matthew Bradley,Clothier
witnesses James (or Janus) Littlewood and Jonathan Fitton. Minister was Richard Collins.

The terms "son in law" and "daughter in law" should really be "stepson" and "stepdaughter". However, Ellen was born 2 years after the death of Rachel's husband, John Bray and so it is likely that she was the illegitimate daughter of William Turner
