from an annotated copy of the will of Harry : presumably he had no wife or children living at the time of writing his will
The will of Harry Earnshaw (Ethel's Brother) of 23 Harold St Bingley ( a retired reed wire polisher) written 25 August 1959.
The executors were Renee Rowling (niece) and Tom Smith (nephew). Renee was daughter of his sister Ethel and Tom is thought to be the son of his sister Annie.
£100 to any current carer. After the normal preliminaries about calling in, paying debts etc the estate was to be broken down into 5 equal parts for
Brother James Earnshaw, brother Sam Earnshaw, brother Ben Earnshaw, niece Renee Rowling (daughter of Ethel Jenkinson nee Earnshaw) and the three nephews Tom Smith, Clifford Smith and Ronald Smith. If any of these had died then their share would pass down to any child/ren they had. The proviso was that should Sam have died then that share would go to his 4 children by his first wife (Ada) and the two by his second wife (Edna) - but not Edna's children by her previous marriage. If any named died without leaving any children, then the shares for the remaining named people would be increased proportionately.
There is a later annotation that the three people called Smith were the sons of Annie Earnshaw who married Jim Smith - she died quite young when Ronald "Ronnie" was about 14.
Further annotation saying that Ben probably married Maggie - who kept goats! - living to over 100 and buried at Oxenhope cemetery and that they had a son Maurice.
