Her son Richard named his first daughter Susannah Pederic (or Petherick) Blackmore - would not be surprised if her surname was Petherick

- thought this was unlikely as there is a baptism in Atherington of John, son of John and Susannah. However, see below regarding the confusion over the name of Susanna's husband

Of the right period and relatively close to Buckland Brewer there was the following marriage, extracted from the transcripts of Devon marriages 1754-1812 - the only marriage of a Thomas and Susanna.

Blackmore Thomas and Petherick Susanna at Huntshaw on 1 Dec 1785. There is an "N" on the transcript to indicate there are notes in the register
This marriage gives credence to the belief that his wife was called Petherick as their son Richard named his first daughter Susan Petherick Blackmore

-The IGI states that the groom was JOHN Blackmore. However, the North Devon Record Office checked the fiche for Huntshaw.
The marriage was between THOMAS Blackmore and Susanna Petherick, both "of this parish", on 1 Dec 1785 and the witnesses were James Blackmore and John Chilkins(who signed many entries). Thomas signed the register but all others made their mark.
It is probable that James was Thomas' brother (my gt gt gt gt grandfather)
