Funeral Notice in North Devon Journal on 8 March 1923
The death took place on Thursday, February 22nd last, of Miss Mary Halls, daughter of the late Mr Halls and of Mrs Halls of Bickington. The deceased passed away after a short illness at the Fortescue Hotel Barnstaple, where she had been employed for 21 years. She was 42 years of age. The funeral took place on Sunday in last week, the iterment being made at the Fremington Churchyard. The Rev T P Dimond-Hogg officiated. The immediate mourners were Mrs Evans, Mrs F Flaherty and Mrs Bennett (sisters), Annie, Olive, Esther and Mary Bennett (nieces), Jack Bennett (nephew), Mrs Easterbrooke (aunt), Bert Easterbrooke (cousin), Mr W Thorne (Bickington) and Mr T Thorne Barnstaple (cousins). Others included .... The choice floral tributes were from her sorrowing mother, sister and children; from uncle, aunt and cousins 10 Bicton Street Barnstaple, ...... from Lucy and Becky (Wales)
- Mrs Evans is sister Lucy who presumably lived in Wales; Mrs F Flaherty is sister Rebecca (also referred to as Becky (Wales); Mrs Easterbrooke (sic) is Emma (nee Thorne), her mother's sister and Bert is Emma's son; Ernest Thomas "Tom" Thorne lived at 10 Bicton Street.
