bullet  General Notes:

From "The Ancestry of John Horsfall Lindley" and From the Lindley family history (entry 540)

likely they had other children as well between 1753-1760 - including probably Joseph and Hannah

A Joseph Lindley of May thorn married a Lydia Broadbent in 1790. No record of his baptism can be traced but he was present at the marriages of Reuben, James and David. It is assumed he was a brother. The fact that he was a witness at the wedding of Reuben in 1778 suggests that Joseph was born around 1757. His family comprised John (1792) born at Mealhill and baptised at Kirkburton, Sally (1795), Martha (1797), and Joseph (1800) all born at Banktop, near Cinderhills and baptised at Holmfirth Wesleyan and lastly Joshua and Lydia (twins) born in 1803 at Newgate. Joshua's baptism is recorded at Holmfirth Wesleyan but his twin sister is not. Her baptism is recorded on the same day in the records of Joseph Cuttell an overseer of the poor whose account books contain about 400 baptisms many of which are not recorded elsewhere. Lydia was buried at Holmfirth Holy Trinity in 1804.

There was possibly another child of Joseph and Lydia. A Hannah Lindley married a William Cuttle in 1816 and lived until 1875 aged 83 which would mean she was born around 1792. There is no trace of her baptism but in the 1861 census she gives her place of birth as Mealhill. That was where John son of Joseph was born and baptised in 1792!. There is other evidence to link Hannah with Joseph and Lydia so it seems that Hannah was either twin to John or possibly his younger sister. John's baptism could have been a late one, Lydia being pregnant at marriage.
