bullet  General Notes:

Robert lan TAYLOR (1919 - 1983) was the son of a Sydney engineer who specialised in motor-car engine reconditioning. Before the war, Robert had some experience as a jackeroo, after which he saw war service in the Ist Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment (1940 -1946), after which he entered the family business, and later went to Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, to start up a new branch of the family company there. In the mid-1950s, Cecil and his family company had acquired an 8,000 acre property in the ninety mile desert (referred to above) and had commenced clearing and development of it. When it was suggested that Robert take on its management, he readily assented, and moved there with his family. Later, he and Elaine acquired the interests of the other members of the family, and made Windarra, as the property was called, the Taylor home. Their family of one son and three daughters have all continued to reside in South Australia.
