- against both Samuel and Mary it states there were 4 children born alive and 4 still living
- the marriage and children entry for Samuel was crossed through
- the marriage and children entry for Mary was written in black ink, main entry in blue
- Mary and the girls' ages were crossed through from the "male" column and added to the "female" column, again in black.
- The relationships of Mary and the children were written in black ink.
- The entries in black were in a differnet hand to the rest of the document (looks same as the enumerators writing)
- The form was signed, in blue, by Mary Margaretta Frude, the same hand as for the other "blue" entries
This suggests to me that Mary was the wife of Samuel and the children were his and not grandchildren.
